Cognitive Health, Depression, Mood, Osteoarthritis, Pain
SAM-e (also called S-adenosylmethionine or ademetionine) is a form of the amino acid methionine and is involved in many important bodily functions. Low levels of methionine, folate, or vitamin B-12 in the body can cause a drop in SAM-e levels.
SAM-e plays a role in the immune system and helps produce and break down brain chemicals such as serotonin, melatonin, and dopamine. Because of this, it plays a role in mood, pain, cognition, and more. It’s often used to positively influence mood, depression, fibromyalgia, joint health, to aid in symptoms of osteoarthritis, liver health, and cognitive support.
Dosage: 400 mg
Contraindications and Cautions: Parkinson’s disease, Lesch-Nyhan syndrome, bipolar disorder. May interfere with surgery. Stop taking SAM-e at least 2 weeks before scheduled surgery. May interact with depression medications.
